Pandemic Scenario: There is a confirmed case in your building
If there is a confirmed case in your building during a pandemic, your credit union needs to have a game plan.
If there is confirmed case of COVID-19 in your office building, employers should inform fellow employees of their possible exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace but maintain confidentiality as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Employees exposed to a member with confirmed COVID-19 should refer to CDC guidance for how to conduct a risk assessment of their potential exposure. Ensure that you follow all direction from local and federal government health agencies on how to approach this incident.
If an employee believes he/she has been exposed, they should monitor their health for fever, cough and shortness of breath during the 14 days after the last day they were in close contact with the sick person with COVID-19. The employee should not go to work and should avoid public places for 14 days. Anticipate employee fear, anxiety, rumors, and misinformation, and plan communications accordingly.
Potentially infected areas need to be properly cleaned and disinfected. Please reference CDC guidelines on the appropriate way to clean & disinfect. Determine if any areas need to be closed for any amount of time. Follow guidelines of health agencies and local government directives.
